This was taken on Friday, August 21. This was probably one of the strongest winds I've ever experienced in my life because we usually don't get this kind of stuff. This is a view of the incoming storm, part of Hurricane Bill, which is now headed to Eastern Canada. And sorry about the "paper bag" thing, I meant to say plastic.
Formed in Germany right at the end of the sixties by guitarist Rudolf Schenker, the Scorpions released a number of successful albums in the seventies before exploding globally in the eighties and early nineties with hits such as Rock You Like A Hurricane and Wind Of Change. This concert was recorded in 2000 with the world famous Berliner Philharmoniker orchestra. It contains a string of Scorpions classics such as Big City Nights, Dynamite, Wind Of Change and Still Loving You, performed by the band with full orchestral support. To order this DVD from Amazon if you are in the UK, please click here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0001FX92A... This is footage on July 21, 2008 in the morning with Hurricane Dolly picking up speed again with some rain and wind, as it makes its way to Texas. It was me, Marcus Cygy, along with my friends Steven and Kristina, who travelled to Cancun, Mexico from July 20-27, 2008 and stayed at the Oasis Cancun hotel resort!Visit http://www.MarcusCygy.com for more videos!Honors: #69 - Top Favorites (Today) - Travel & Events - Canada
9/1/08 - Lafayette, LouisianaThe hurricane is at it's worst point right now. Most of our tree's large branches have "evacuated" from the tree into the yard. Every few minutes a huge gust of wind comes directly towards us, which is when most of the destruction happens. Notice the ceiling fans turning... They are turned off. That is soley the wind making the blades turn. When I say "Look, you can see it going in a circle", I am referring to the direction that the rain was being blown by the wind. When I mention "curfew", it's because there was a mandatory, police-enforced curfew at the time, basically so that people wouldn't be roaming the streets or trying to drive during the hurricane, and to prevent crime on the days following. And yes, when we were talking about those damn lesbians standing outside the house and causing trouble, we were referring to ourselves. At 1:03 you can see one of the bigger gusts of wind carrying rain towards us. At some points debris also flew in our direction, but I never had the camera on at those points, thank god.Around 1:30 my mom was joking about how it was making her nervous because all 8 of us were crowded around the one door that led into the enclosed garage, so we were basically screwed if something happened, lol. That loud yelping noise that started at 1:57 was one of the 6 dogs that we had inside. There was nothing wrong with them, they were all safely crated in the air conditioning, away from the storm; they were just crying because they were scared and because Yvette had passed through the room so they thought we might let them out. Don't start commenting here claiming animal abuse, because they weren't hurt. That's a noise that Chihuahuas sometimes make when they're scared. So calm the fuck down before you even start spamming about it. Watch my other videos (and take a glance at my favorites) and you'll see that I'm far, far away from abusing my animals. I love my dog to bits :3Excuse the fact that it randomly turns to darkness or points in random directions. That was me trying to wipe the fog from the lens (which didn't help much, because the fog was on the INSIDE of the camera), or wiping the rain from the screen.
A Must-see! Debut "Bettes vs. Weather" segment on The Weather Channel's Weather Center program. Mike has reported live during Hurricanes Katrina, Ike, Wilma... but he's never experienced hurricane force winds like this before! Broadcasting live from Virginia Tech's wind tunnel, in this clip Mike Bettes tries to break its record of 110 mph, which is at the top end of a Category 2 hurricane. Co-host Stephanie Abrams oversees the fun from the studio.
Not the worst part of Katrina by any means, but here are some of the wind gusts that I recorded before my Aunt made me come inside. The yard was already flooding, and one of the trees was rocking back and forth. My Aunt kept saying "Hold your ground, tree, hold your ground!" The tree did end up falling on the house, but thankfully not on us!
